Rang De Basanti actor Siddharth has never been the one to mince his words or be diplomatic. He has always used his voice to point out the loopholes and is not afraid to call a spade a spade. Given the COVID 19 crisis in India, many have blamed the government for not being prepared. While the government has been reportedly trying to play down the crisis, Siddharth has been calling out the government in his own right. Recently, he shared that he has been getting rape and death threats over his standing in the matter. He shared a few examples of the kind of messages he has been getting. “My phone number was leaked by members of TN BJP and @BJPtnITcell  Over 500 calls of abuse, rape and death threats to me & family for over 24 hrs. All numbers recorded (with BJP links and DPs) and handing over to Police. I will not shut up. Keep trying.”
On Thursday, Siddharth shared another tweet thanking fans for the support and revealed that he read down the tweets to his mother to reassure her as she has been scared for her son. “My mother is afraid. I had no other words to give her courage and reassurance so I read her some of yours from your tweets. Thank you for telling me I’ll be ok. We are very normal people from very simple backgrounds. Your words mean the world. Let’s get back to work and help,” Siddharth wrote.Â
In another tweet, Siddharth shared what one of the social media posts read. “This is one of many social media posts by BJP TN members leaking my number yesterday and telling people to attack and harass me. “Ivan inimela vaaye thirakka koodathu” (this fellow must never open his mouth again) We might survive Covid. Will we survive these people?”
