Rangoli Chandel takes a not-so-subtle dig at Ranveer Singh’s ‘outsider’ status

Kangana Ranaut‘s sister and manager Rangoli Chandel is known for commenting on everything and anything under the sun. Chandel is quite popular on the micro-blogging site Twitter for bashing and pointing out the double standards of the film industry. It’s also true that most of the time she goes off-track and is trolled mercilessly by the Twitterati.

Rangoli recently took a dig at Ranveer Singh’s “Outsider” status. A netizen shared a major throwback picture of a young Ranveer attending a birthday party with cousin Sonam Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor. Commenting on the picture, Rangoli made some nasty remarks on how Ranveer is also a product of nepotism.

A twitter user had shared a throwback picture of Ranveer, Sonam and Ranbir enjoying a birthday party as kids. Reposting the same image, Rangoli wrote, “People with rich parents who have access to connections and opportunities don’t qualify as outsiders, people coming from small villages who can’t speak English and studied in small schools, have no money to buy fancy clothes and treated badly(sic).”

She further added, “Because of these three factors even though they have huge talent and competence are the ones who need special attention and our compassion, let’s empower the underprivileged.”

Soon netizens pointed out how Rangoli is promoting her sister Kangana through her sarcastic comments. One of the users wrote, “Isse 100 awards denge tobhi ye bakwas nahi bandh karne wali jealous, attention ke bhooke logonko kitna bhi do, kamm hi hai.” Whereas another one wrote, “And unhe bhi outsider nahi kahna chahiye jo kisi married aadmi ke sath relationship me pad kar uski approach se films industry me kadam rakhe ..”

There were also some users who agreed that Ranveer is an outsider who has bagged films on his own merit. “Totally agree with you he is self-proclaimed outsider but reality is that he is half time product of nepotism also can’t deny he is very good actor and doing his job nicely got film on his merits,” wrote one of the users.

Ranveer has time and again spoken about how he has no filmi-background. However, in reality, he is a cousin of Sonam Kapoor. Ranveer’s mother is related to Sonam’s mother Sunita Kapoor.
