Rani Mukerji impressed us with her performance in ‘Hichki’, where she played a teacher with Tourette Syndrome. Over the years, she has done some superb films and earned several accolades as an actor.
Recently, the ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ actress opened up in a candid interview with Rajeev Masand and Anupama Chopra on their podcast, ‘Take 2’. When asked about what inspired her to become an actress, Rani said that it was her love for Sridevi.
Rani recalled her childhood days, when she would go to see Sridevi, wearing her school uniform and backpack. “When she used to descend from her make-up van, she used to be like a queen because there used to be this 2 hour lunch break and no one could go and disturb her. It was very different then,” she said in the interview.
She also said that it was the sparkle in Sridevi’s eyes that attracted her, and she deeply misses her right now. Unfortunately, Rani never got to work with Sridevi in a film (she appeared with her in a special song for ‘Bombay Talkies’ though).
We are sure that just like Sridevi inspired Rani, Rani must have inspired a lot of younger actresses with her charm and charisma. We miss Sridevi too, but as they say, the show must go on.
