Ranu Mondal from Ranaghat, West Bengal became an overnight sensation when her rendition of Lata Mangeshkar’s song went viral. She was spotted singing ‘Ek Pyaar Ka Nagma Hai’ in a railway station and then her video was uploaded on social media. The video of her singing created a stir among the netizens and she became instantly popular. Her melodious voice wooed everyone including singer-composer Himesh Reshammiya.
While talking to IANS, Ranu said that she moved to Mumbai after her marriage and later started working at late actor Feroz Khan’s house.
Ranu said that her husband worked as a cook at Feroz Khan’s home and the family treated them well. She said that Feroz’s son Fardeen Khan was then studying in college.
Ranu aka Ranu Bobby was interested in singing and she sang in the night clubs. But her husband did not approve her to sing in the night clubs and she had to quit. The singer in her was always alive and she started listening to legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar’s songs on radio and cassettes.
Post her husband’s death she had to go back to her home town Ranaghat. She then started singing at the Ranaghat Railway station. But a single video of her changed her entire life, all thanks to the 26-year-old engineer Atindra Chakraborty who recorded her song and uploaded on his Facebook account.
Himesh recorded two songs of his upcoming movie ‘Happy Hardy And Heer’. The first song is titled ‘Teri Meri Kahani’ and the second one is ‘Aadat’.
