Content creator Apoorva Mukhija, also known as ‘The Rebel Kid’, has been removed from the list of official ambassadors for the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards, scheduled to take place in Jaipur next month. This decision follows a controversy surrounding her appearance on an episode of ‘India Got Latent’, where YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia made an inappropriate comment about her parents.

Apoorva Mukhija removed from the IIFA Awards

According to reports, Apoorva Mukhija was initially set to participate in Rajasthan Tourism’s treasure hunt shoots in collaboration with IIFA. However, an official statement from the office of Diya Kumari, tourism minister and deputy chief minister of Rajasthan, confirmed that Apoorva’s name has been removed from the list of IIFA ambassadors.

This move comes after the Karni Sena, a right-wing group, threatened to disrupt Apoorva’s planned shoot in Udaipur later this month. The group warned that anyone promoting obscenity would face opposition and potential physical confrontation. Dr Paramveer Singh Dulawat, division head of Rajput Karni Sena, stated that individuals spreading vulgarity would be boycotted at the airport and not allowed to leave.

About the controversy

The controversy surrounding Apoorva Mukhija and other influencers involved in the episode of ‘India’s Got Latent’ has led to a complaint being filed in Rajasthan’s Kota on February 13. The shoot, scheduled for February 20 at Udaipur’s City Palace, Amarai Ghat, and Pichola Lake, has been put in jeopardy due to the backlash.

The Karni Sena has vowed to take severe action against those who promote vulgarity, warning that they will face repercussions in Rajasthan. The removal of Apoorva Mukhija as an IIFA ambassador is seen as a response to the growing controversy and public outcry.
