‘Padmaavat’ star Ranveer Singh‘s infectious energy is something people take inspiration from and his quirkiness makes him one of the most versatile actors in Bollywood. The 33-year-old is synonymous with being quirky when it comes to his fashion choices. We have seen him wear everything from a skirt to PJs to the quirkiest prints.

But was Ranveer Singh always this radical with what he wore? In an interview to IANS, the actor opened up about his fashion sojourns back in the day.

He revealed he was called ‘atrangi’ (different) for his appearances. “In my first two years, I did not make very honest choices when it came to my fashion sensibilities. I was still in the process of figuring out who I was and that reflected in my fashion choices. In my early days, the concept of appreciation and criticism was new to me,” says Ranveer.

And with time Ranveer’s style statement is getting bolder. What others think or comment on his dressing sense no longer affects him,”I remember in school too, I was called ‘atrangi’ because of my Mohawk, ear piercings, baggy jeans. I have always been this way. But over time, I have been in situations where I have had the chance to reflect. I now no more worry about being judged or influenced by others’ opinions. I have started making choices that are authentic, especially when it comes to fashion,” the actor said.

So is this the reason brands love him and want him to endorse their product? He says, “Apart from acting which is my core, I am now recognized for my fashion choices. Fashion for me is an authentic representation of who I am. Therefore, associating with an apparel brand comes very naturally to me.”

On the work front, Ranveer has wrapped up Zoya Akhtar’s ‘Gully Boy‘ co-starring Alia Bhatt. He is now busy with Rohit Shetty’s ‘Simbaa’ the movie also features Sara Ali Khan. Next on the pipeline is Kabir Khan’s ’83’, in which he will be seen portraying the role of former cricketer Kapil Dev.

Speaking about his role in the movie Ranveer said, “It is a film based on the most glorious chapter in India’s sporting history — the Cricket World Cup. I play Kapil Dev in the movie. It is my first biographical portrayal of an individual who is still out and about, doing such great work… it is an absolute honour to have been able to lead an ensemble of characters that are so significant in our history.”

One thing is for sure: Ranveer will always stand out in a crowd all thanks to his quirky but stunning clothing choices.
