Ranveer Singh breaks his silence on Deepika Padukone playing his wife in ’83’

Bollywood star Ranveer Singh is on cloud nine at the moment. The 33-year-old actor is currently enjoying the success of ‘Gully Boy’. The Zoya Akhtar directorial is inching towards Rs 100 crore at the box-office and the film has been appreciated by critics and audiences alike.

Now, as we all know, Ranveer Singh is also working in Kabir Khan’s ’83’. The film is based on India’s triumph at the 1983 World Cup and Ranveer will be portraying the character of former Indian captain Kapil Dev. There were speculations regarding Deepika Padukone playing Ranveer’s wife in ’83’.

Ranveer, in an interview with CineBlitz said, “Deepika is at present working on ‘Chhapak’. I am really hoping we can explore our creative collaboration again because I know it’s very special. Both have to be equally excited about it because we understand that our screen pairing is so loved. You know ‘Ram Leela’, ‘Bajirao Mastani’, ‘Padmaavat’ though we were pitted against each other, people loved that drama. So we have such precious on-screen chemistry and equity that we have built over the years. I am very keen on it, but the material has to be irresistible and I would imagine being very selective in that process.”

So, Ranveer Singh has set the record straight. ’83’ is one of the most anticipated films of recent times and is slated to release on April 10, 2020.
