Ranveer Singh to play Ranbir Kapoor’s father ‘Dev’ in Brahmastra 2? Here’s what we know

Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva released last year and it did great at the box office. Since Brahmastra’s release, there have been reports about Ranveer Singh playing the role of Dev, Ranbir Kapoor’s father in the upcoming second part. For the uninitiated, the character Dev was introduced at the end of Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva. Now, as per a report by News18, Ranveer has given his nod to play the character in Ayan Mukerji’s directorial film.

Ranveer Singh to play Dev in Brahmastra 2

News18 quoted a source saying, “Ranveer Singh has been finalised to play the role of Dev in Brahmastra 2. He has signed the dotted line. The scripting for the second part is still in progress and the film is expected to roll in 2025.” The report further added that Ayan currently is busy with War 2 and it’s still unclear when Brahmastra 2 will go on floors.

The source added, “If all goes well, Ranveer will kick-start Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Baiju Bawra mid-2024. While it was decided that the shoot of Brahmastra 2 will begin in early 2025, it is now being said that Don 3 will go on floors at the same time. In all likelihood, Ranveer will shoot for Don 2 first and then Brahmastra 2.”

Well, it will be exciting to see Ranveer Singh opposite Ranbir Kapoor for the first time. On the other hand, it will also be the first time that two Bollywood couples Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt and Deepika Padukone-Ranveer will come together onscreen for a film. For the unversed, Deepika was a part of Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva. She plays Ranbir’s mother Amrita in the film.

Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva also featured Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Nagarjuna, and Mouni Roy. Ayan had revealed that Brahmastra: Part Two – Dev will release in December 2026, and Brahmastra: Part Three will arrive by December 2027.
