‘Takht’: Ranveer Singh and Vicky Kaushal to play THESE characters in KJo’s magnum opus

Filmmaker Karan Johar’s next directorial is an epic drama titled ‘Takht’ that has a stellar star cast including Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Anil Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, and Bhumi Pednekar. The movie has not yet gone into floors, still, it has created a buzz on social media. The shooting will start next year.

Reports suggest that ‘Takht’ revolves around the story of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz’s kids. The film will focus on their three children, played by Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Vicky Kaushal. Alia Bhatt will be playing Ranveer Singh’s wife and Janhvi will be seen as Vicky’s wife.

At Rajeev Masand’s annual actors’ roundtable, Ranveer Singh, Vicky Kaushal, Rajkummar Rao, Ayushmann Khurrana and Pankaj Tripathi talked about playing negative characters on screen. During the discussion, Ranveer and Vicky revealed that Vicky will be playing the character of Mughal ruler Aurangzeb while Ranveer, will be essaying the role Aurangzeb’s brother, Dara Shikoh in ‘Takht’.

As per a report in Times of India, Kareena is playing Jahanara, Dara Shikoh, and Aurangzeb’s sister, and Anil Kapoor will be playing Shah Jahan. Talking about ‘Takht’, Karan once said, “Takht is like the K3G of the Mughal era. But it’s more extreme, there is more betrayal. It has the tropes of court politics. It’s so rich in texture.”
