Raveena Tandon opens up on her ‘friendly rivalry’ with Govinda, says, ‘If he aced a shot, I had to give my best’

Raveena Tandon and Govinda were one of the hit pairs of the ‘90s. They have delivered hits like Dulhe Raja, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, and Aunty No. 1, among others. The actor duo shared a special bond, despite that they are very competitive. Recently, the Aranyak actress appeared in a reality show India’s Best Dancer. During a fun rapid-fire session, she opened up about her bond with Govinda and shared how they were competitive. She also revealed they shared a friendly rivalry.

Speaking of her friends from the industry, and why her equation with Govinda stands out, Raveena shared, “I’ve got a bunch of amazing friends in the industry, from the enchanting Madhuri Dixit to the ever-graceful Shilpa Shetty, and the unforgettable Sridevi. But if I had to pick one ride-or-die, it would have to be the one and only Govinda, lovingly known as Chi Chi. We’ve always shared a deep love for music and dancing. My comic timing improved significantly because of Govinda.”

She recalled shooting for popular songs like Kisi Disco Main Jaye and Akhiyon Se Goli Maare. “Even in our dance collaborations, we were lightning fast. We completed Kisi Disco Main Jaye in just one and a half days and Akhiyon Se Goli Maare in a single day. We’d start shooting early in the morning at 9:30-10:00 am and wrap up by 6:00 pm. We used to shoot the Antara and Mukhda simultaneously. And oh, the friendly rivalry – if he aced a shot, I had to give my best. Our chemistry was pure magic, fueled by our energy and a sprinkle of healthy competition,” she added.

On the work front, the actress will be seen in Ghudchadi, co-starring Sanjay Dutt. She will also reunite with Akshay Kumar for Welcome 3. The first glimpse of the same was shared a few days back and the audience eagerly awaits the franchise.
