Actress Raveena Tandon is all geared up for her revenge drama ‘Maatr’, but she has faced many hurdles for the smooth release of the film. The movie ran into trouble with CBFC over its rape scene and cuss words, but the producer Anjum Rizvi chose to reduce the 13 minutes long rape scene to 4 minutes and also removed the cuss words. The movie was finally cleared yesterday by the CBFC. But producer Anjum Rizvi and actress Raveena Tandon are in the headlines for another controversy which revolves around an old movie of Anjum Rizvi that did not see the light of the day. Well, Rizvi’s last production, which was the remake of Sai Paranjpe’s classic movie ‘Katha’, did not release. So, even if the movie did not release, the producer should have cleared the dues of all the actors and technicians. Sadly, Rizvi did not clear the dues of supporting actors like Chiranjeet Chhabra, Sneha Raikar, Bharti Kumaria, Simran Gangwani and a child artist. The director Khalid Mohamed, was also short-changed and paid just a token amount for his direction. The artistes complained to CINTAA (Cine & TV Artistes Association) about the same and reportedly Raveena was warned by CINTAA to not cooperate with Anjum Rizvi, who is also the producer of her upcoming movie ‘Maatr’.
But, the actress has come out in support of the unpaid artistes of the unreleased movie as she tweeted, “Will support the artistes, will try help out in my capacity.have NOT received any mail from “cintaa” nOR has anyone Smsd OR tried contact me.”
Here’s her tweet:
Now that Raveena has lent her support for the artistes, we hope their dues are cleared soon. ‘Maatr’ directed by Ashtar Sayed is slated to release on April 21, 2017.
