Ravi Dubey CONFIRMS playing Lakshman in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana; says, “He (Ranbir Kapoor) is like the elder brother I never had”

Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi starrer Ramayana is one of the most anticipated of 2025. A few months ago, several pictures of the cast of Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Lara Dutta, and Arun Govil from the sets of the film were leaked online. Earlier in an interview, casting director Mukesh Chhabra revealed that actor Ravi Dubey will be playing Lakshman.

Now, Ravi Dubey also shared his experience of working with Ranbir Kapoor, whom he called the “only commercially viable artist of this generation” while talking to Connect Cine.

Ravi Dubey confirms, “I am playing Lakshman in the film. I finally have permission from the makers to reveal this. I didn’t talk about it all this while because I didn’t want to give irresponsible statements and spoil Namit (Malhotra) and Nitesh sir’s plans to reveal the cast.”

Ravi Dubey will be sharing the screen with Ranbir Kapoor for the first time. Speaking about the actor, Ravi said, “He is like the elder brother I never had.” He added, “He is kind, warm, he is the most immaculate professional that I have ever met. This is my first time working alongside a megastar like Ranbir Kapoor and his kindness, empathy, silence and grace towards everyone (is impeccable).”

Ranbir Kapoor and Ravi have begun their prep for the project. He said, “Every time he is in front of camera, you will see he has been at it. He is the only commercial, viable artist of this generation.”

During Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast, Mukesh Chhabra revealed about the casting and stated, “It was the last role we cast. We’ve chosen a young actor who has worked a lot in television; he’s a lovely guy. We couldn’t have found a better Lakshman. I’m very happy that the people we’d initially approached all said no. Two or three people said no, because they think that Ram and Lakshman will always have to be together. But I’m very happy with the actor we’ve gone with, this is going to be his first film in Bollywood.”

About Ramayana

Talking about the Ramayana franchise, the first part of the film will introduce Lord Rama, his family at Ayodhya, his marriage with Sita and their 14-year vanvas. The first part is expected to end with the kidnapping of Sita by Ravana. It is said to be made with ₹835 crore budget, and the film requires 600 days Of post-production work.

In the film, Ranbir will be seen as Lord Ram, whereas Sai will essay Mata Sita. While some reports also stated that the KGF star Yash will play Ravan in the film.
