Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus, ‘Padmavati’, has been in the news for a long time, and for all wrong reasons. Be the remuneration declaration of lead actress Deepika Padukone, or numerous casting issues, or even the rumours of tiffs between lead actors Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, this movie has seen it all. The movie also saw backing out of Eros International on production front, due to high budget.
However, the good news is, in spite of it all, it is sailing through, and much to the delight of fans, has been now announced officially.
Today, Sudhanshu Vats, the CEO of Viacom18, took to his Twitter account to share two good news about the movie; one, that Viacom18 has come on board with Bhansali Productions, and second, the release date of ‘Padmavati’.
Here’s the tweet.

Well, we are certainly excited to see that quintessential SLB touch to the eternal saga of Queen Padmavati in the movie, the true Rajput woman for whom her honour was above all. After ‘Bajrao Mastani’, it would be a treat to watch Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone as Alauddin Khilji and Padmavati respectively, and surely interesting to watch Shahid Kapoor as Raja Rawal Ratan Singh, as this will be the first time he will be playing a royal historical character.
