Veteran actor Rekha is always said to be the epitome of grace and in every sense it’s true. The actress reigned supreme on the silver screen in the 70s and 80s and charmed viewers with her acting prowess. She last starred in the 2014 movie Super Nani and since then she has not taken up any movies. While the question of why isn’t Rekha doing movies always lingers among fans, in a recent interview she set the record straight.
Rekha opens up about not signing a film since 2014
While other veteran actors like Dimple Kapadia, Shabana Azmi, Dharmendra and Neena Gupta are continuing to do movies, it has left many wondering why Rekha doesn’t choose to do so. Talking to Vogue Arabia, the actress opened up about not starring in any movie since 2014. She said, “Whether I make films or not, it never leaves me. I have my memories to relive what I love. And when the time is right, the right project will find me. My person is my own, but my cinematic persona is in the eyes of the beholder. Therefore I choose where I want to be and where I don’t want to be. I am so blessed to have earned the right to choose what I love. And to have the luxury to simply say no.”
Rekha debuted in Bollywood with the movie Sawan Bhadon in 1970. Since then she has been a prominent name in the Indian Film Industry. The veteran actor has starred in Bollywood’s classic movies like Umrao Jaan, Silsila, Khoon Bhari Maang and many more. Nowadays the actress makes special appearances on the judge’s seat in reality competition TV shows.
