Independent filmmaker Rima Das’ Assamese film ‘Village Rockstars‘ left behind several big budget films like ‘Padmaavat’, ‘Raazi’ and ‘Pad Man’ in the race to become India’s official entry to the Oscars, 2019. The filmmaker couldn’t believe her luck after the announcement was made. However, due to lack of funding she is finding it difficult to start the Oscar campaign for her film.
‘English Vinglish’ actor Adil Hussain took to Twitter to express his disappointment over the fact that the government is not coming forward to help Rima in her Oscar campaign. The actor expressed his views by posting, “I am so Flummoxed reading this! The governments have so much money to promote themselves putting posters all across! After selecting Village Rockstars, jury says there’s acute lack of funds to promote film at Oscars”

Soon after actress Renuka Shahane, came forward and agreeing with Adil, suggested a better way to help Rima. Renuka wrote, “Why don’t we from the film fraternity join hands and create a fundraiser for our Oscar entry? Let’s not depend on the Govt. It is important that we support this gem of a film onwards to the Oscars. @rimadasFilm”

Rima Das was touched by Renuka’s words and she thanked her by posting, “Thanks Renuka for your love and support Considering all options right now. Many people have voluntarily expressed a desire to contribute towards #VillageRockstars Oscar journey, so crowdfunding is definitely on my mind.”
That is great to hear @rimadasFilm but we need to get things moving soon. Please let me know if I can be of any help ? https://t.co/t9GX428ZzY
