The Supreme Court has ordered that the CBI will take over the investigation into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. As per a report in ABP News, Rhea Chakraborty’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde issued a statement on her behalf asserting that Rhea will appear and face the investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation.
The statement read: “The Hon’ble Supreme Court after examining the facts and circumstances of the case and the report of the Mumbai police has observed that it will be the desired justice as Rhea herself called for a CBI investigation.”
It further stated, “The Hon’ble Supreme Court also observed that due to the allegations made by the two states of political interference against each other, it would be in the interest of justice to hand over the case to the CBI.”
Her advocate also said that Rhea maintains that the truth will remain the same whichever agency investigates the case.
Rhea is the prime accused of Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case after the late actor’s family filed a complaint against her with Patna police, accusing her of transferring money from his account. On Bihar government’s consent, the case was given to CBI but Rhea appealed for transfer of the investigation from Bihar Police to Mumbai and also Maharashtra government was not in favour of CBI investigation. Now, as per the apex court’s order, Mumbai Police has to fully co-operate with CBI.
