Rhea Chakraborty recalls her time in jail after Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, says, ‘My life had become a show’

Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his Bandra apartment in Mumbai on June 14, 2020. Post that, Rhea Chakraborty, who was dating Sushant Singh Rajput at that time, was blamed for his death. A case of alleged abetment to suicide was registered against Rhea. The actress spent 28 days in the Byculla jail. Now, in a recent interview, Rhea opened up about her jail time. The actress spoke about the ‘physical and mental trauma’ she went through in the jail.

Rhea Chakraborty recalls her time in jail

During his recent interaction with Chetan Bhagat on his chat show, Deep Talk With Chetan Bhagat, Rhea Chakraborty shared that after being ‘chased’ by so many people after the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, she was prepared to go to the jail. She said, “It had become a show and my life was on display. I was like, stop it. I thought, ye ho hi jaaye toh better hai (let it happen). Let me go to jail. So many people were after me, that existence was not okay for me. I preferred everything gets clarified, even if that means going to jail.”

Furthermore, Rhea revealed that she was served a roti and capsicum and that she slept for 12 hours straight and was so tired of whatever was happening to her. The actress added, “Mental trauma is so much harder that the physical trauma starts paling in front of it. You think ‘Ganda bathroom toh manage kar lungi’ (I will manage the dirty bathroom).”

Rhea talks about her schedule in the jail

Recalling her schedule in the jail, she said, “You get breakfast at 6 am, lunch at 11 am, and dinner at 2 pm because it goes with the British way of things. They open the gates at 6 am and lock you in at 5 pm. Until then, you can take a shower, go the library etc. Most people save their dinner and have it at 7-8 pm. However, I changed my whole cycle. Yeh khana toh waise bhi khaya nahin jaayega. Garam hoga toh fir bhi khaya jaayega. Thanda toh bilkul nahin khaya jaayega (The food was still edible when warm, so I preferred eating it warm). Hence, I started waking up at 4 am and finishing my dinner at 2 pm.”

On the work front, Rhea served as a gang leader on the 12^th season of the Indian reality show Roadies last year.
