Rhea Chakraborty was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in relation to the drug probe in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case. Along with the actress, her brother Showik, and other drug peddlers were also arrested by the NCB. The siblings had moved to the sessions court after their bail plea was rejected by the magistrate court.
Today the Bombay High Court will be conducting a hearing regarding their bail applications, but ahead of that, the NCB has filed an affidavit yesterday in the High Court opposing their bail.
According to a report by ANI, NCB filed affidavits in which they stated that Rhea and Showik were a part of the drug syndicate as the siblings were connected to high-profile drug peddlers.
Zonal Director (NCB), Sameer Wankhede, filed two affidavits in High Court saying, “Electronic evidence such as WhatsApp chats, records were retrieved from mobile, laptop and hard-disk and it indicated payment made for drugs. Thus, there is ample evidence to show present applicant Rhea has not only regularly dealt with but also financed illicit trafficking of drugs.” It further read, “This would tantamount to harbouring. Rhea also allowed her residence for drug storage and consumption by Rajput.”

It also mentioned that Rhea and Showik were part of a drug syndicate and that there is proof showing that they were involved in drug trafficking. It read, “It is clear from the statements and electronic evidence gathered by NCB that applicant is an active member of the drug syndicate connected with high society personalities and drug suppliers. There is sufficient evidence that she is involved in drug trafficking. The applicant used to facilitate drug deliveries and payment through credit cards/cash/payment gateways for the contraband.”Â
