‘Shakeela’ Trailer: Richa Chadha starrer biopic of adult star will showcase the dual face of the patriarchal society

After a long wait, the makers of Richa Chadha starrer ‘Shakeela’ have finally dropped its trailer. Also starring Pankaj Tripathi, ‘Shakeela’ is directed by Indrajit Lankesh and it’s based on the life of adult star Shakeela who was celebrated actress of the south Indian film industry back in the 90s.

There’s a saying that when life gives you a lemon, make lemonade- and actress Shakeela followed the same route in her life. The biopic’s trailer showcases us the journey of a girl-next-door becoming the biggest adult star of her time. But is it easy to make it big in a male-dominated industry? No, it isn’t. And ‘Shakeela’ trailer traces the hardship, insults and betrayals Shakeela faced in her career.

Though Richa has tried her best to get into the skin of her character however in some scenes her expressions appear to be forced. Whereas Pankaj Tripathi is an exceptional actor and there’s no doubt about it but in ‘Shakeela’s trailer he failed to impress me as an antagonist.

Also, the trailer will instantly remind you of Vidya Balan’s ‘Dirty Picture’ however it fails to capture your attention and imagination the way Vidya’s film did.

‘Shakeela’ is scheduled to hit the theatres on December 25.
