Rifle shooting and horse riding, here’s how Vidya Balan prepared herself for ‘Begum Jaan’

With yet another masterpiece, Vidya Balan is set to enthrall all of us with her fearless performance in ‘Begum Jaan’.  We witnessed the trailer of the film and we surely can say that it is one of the best performances of Vidya Balan till date. Well, it has to be the best, as Vidya has invested so much of dedication and efforts in bringing her character of Begum Jaan, a brothel owner, to life.

In one of his interview, directed Srijit Mukherji, revealed about the efforts put in by the ladies for the film. Vidya, Gauahar Khan, Pallavi Sharda and all the ladies could be seen portraying extremely raw, raunchy and vengeful characters. We see them taking up guns and fighting for their rights. Srijit revealed that all the actresses underwent a proper training in rifle shooting and horse riding.

Srijit said, “Vidya and the other girls had to fire those old rifles for the climax sequence. They had to run, and even ride horses while armed. So, all of them had to appear comfortable while wielding the guns. They were heavy but the ladies, especially Vidya, did a great a job at handling them. All this, with just 10 days of prep work. Normally, a workshop doesn’t entail such heavy duty physical tasks but when I told Vidya that she had to get familiar with a gun, she was totally game for it.”

The director also revealed that a room was allotted to the ladies in Vishesh Films’ office to learn loading and unloading the rifles. Apart from this, the ladies also underwent horse riding training.
