Huma Qureshi is making her international debut with Gurinder Chadha’s period drama ‘Partition: 1947’. ‘Partition: 1947’ has been renamed from ‘Viceroy’s House’, for the Indian audience. It is a story about a Muslim woman played by Huma Qureshi falling in love with a Hindu boy named by Manish Dayal. Their love saga suffers the test of time as the country is on the verge of getting divided. Huma plays a role of translator of Lord Mountbatten, who is in charge of drawing the line between India and Pakistan. Gurinder Chadha, the director of this film, is quite impressed with the Bollywood actress. In many of her interviews, she has just had kind words to say about her. Further, Huma had also revealed that she had to audition for this role. “I didn’t go looking for an international project or a Hollywood film. Gurinder Chadha was making a film about the Partition. She wanted an Indian actor. Her casting director sent me the script and asked me to read it and also send an audition tape,” the actress had quipped.
