Rima Das’ film ‘Village Rockstars‘, India’s official entry to the Oscars, has received Rs 1 crore from Assam government for promotions. The film has been struggling to receive money for the promotions at the Oscars. She further added, “There’s no background score, there are a lot of silences and yet we did well during our theatrical run. So, everything is interesting.”

Indian films over the years have struggled to come up with content that can challenge at the international level and let’s hope that ‘Village Rockstars’ breaks India’s duck at the Oscars. ‘Village Rockstars’grabbed the Best Feature Film ‘Swarna Kamal’ award at the 65th National Film Awards, which were declared at New Delhi on 13 April 2018.

Rima Das’ film won awards in three other categories as well. The Best Child Actor went to Bhanita Das and ‘Village Rockstars’ also received National Award for Best Editing.

We wish Rima all the best and hope that her film bring laurels to our country.
