Recently, at the trailer launch of ‘Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi’, senior actors Rishi Kapoor and Paresh Rawal spoke about Supreme Court’s order which considered triple talaq unconstitutional. Rishi Kapoor spoke, “I am very happy that the thing, which our government raised, has now been cancelled. We want to talk about good things rather than anything negative.”

Later, Paresh Rawal too shared his opinion by saying, “I think it is in Modi ji’s fate to do something good and he has done it. He touched upon this topic on August 15 from the Red Fort. The rights that Muslim women should get, they are finally getting. That’s a very good thing for the dignity of our Muslim women and country.” He further added, “Muslim women have self-respect. Just because you are from one caste, doesn’t mean you are not respected. And I am not talking about (only) Muslim women. I am talking about Indian women. They have been subjected to unfair treatment for years. People, who are bringing religious interpretations into this (the order), they should know that it is not written in Quran. Still, it was happening and that’s surprising. Anyway, better late than never.” Well said! (Also Read: Paresh Rawal: It will be challenging to play Narendra Modi in his biopic)

Talking about the movie ‘Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi’, it also stars Vir Das, Payal Ghosh and Prem Chopra. Directed by Sanjay Chhel, produced by Bharat Patel of Bholenath Movies, the movie is all set to release on September 15, 2017.

‘Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi’, as the name suggests, is based on two families, a Punjabi and a Gujarati one, the patriarchs of which are Rishi Kapoor and Paresh Rawal respectively. The two absolutely despise each others’ cultures and way of living, till the unexpected happens; their kids fall in love. What happens next forms the crux of the story, which has been made into a light romantic comedy.
