Rishi Kapoor remembers his late father Raj Kapoor

On this date, in the year 1988, Indian Cinema lost one of its precious gems, with the demise of visionary actor-filmmaker Raj Kapoor. He had passed away on June 2, 1988. Today, is his 29th death anniversary. The actor-filmmaker is still remembered for his iconic films like ‘Barsaat’, ‘Awara’, ‘Shree 420’, ‘Sangam’, ‘Bobby’ and many more. His son and veteran actor Rishi Kapoor took to his Twitter to share a picture of the Showman, and shared his thoughts, reminiscing Raj Kapoor.

The veteran actor had written , “Papa, today 29 years ago,you left us. “Par hum  tumhare rahenge sada”!” [sic] This line is taken from Raj Kapoor’s iconic song ‘Jeena Yahan Marna Yahan’ from ‘Mera Naam Joker’ (1970). Co-incidentally this is the same movie which marked Rishi Kapoor’s debut in Bollywood as he was seen playing the younger version of the character played by his father. (Also Read: A mark to remember: When Raj Kapoor burnt his hand, for a promise)
