Rishi Kapoor is notorious for posting absurd messages on his Twitter page, which has landed the veteran actor in trouble, many a times. This time, he invited the wrath of the Twitterati for his tweet encouraging the women’s cricket team who were fighting it out against England for the World Cup trophy last evening. He tweeted, “Waiting for a repeat of Sourav Ganguly’s act on the balcony of The Lords Ground,London, when India beat England 2002 NatWest series final! YO”
Now we would like to point out two things here. Firstly, we agree that his intention wasn’t bad and he just wanted the women’s cricket team to emerge victorious like in the year 2002, when the men’s cricket team beat England. However, the way he represented his thought by using a picture of a shirtless Sourav Ganguly removing his tee and waving in excitement on the balcony of the Lord’s cricket stadium (one of the legendary moments in the history of Indian cricket) was not something which sought a connect with many people. People took it in a way that he was being quite a pervert in asking the girls to remove their shirts and cheer.
Hence, he got severely trolled for his tweet where people called him drunk. Here are a few examples of Twitter trolls targeted at him:
After receiving brickbats for his tweet, he clarified his earlier tweet by writing, “WHAT WRONG HAVE I SAID? I DIDNT SAY ANY FEMALE PLAYER SHOULD!I ONLY SAID SOURAV GANGULY SHOULD REPEAT HIS SHOW. YOU HAVE A WRONG MIND DEAR!”
Honestly, we didn’t really get his point here because Ganguly wasn’t even there for the women’s cricket world cup finals. Should he have come up with a better explanation? We think so. (Aso Read: Rishi Kapoor calls Anurag Basu ‘irresponsible’, blames him for failure of ‘Jagga Jasoos’)
