Tragedy struck Elphinstone railway station in Mumbai this morning as sudden rains and rumours of a short circuit shook up the public commuting through the railway bridge and a huge crowd gathered to exit a narrow bridge together, which connected two stations. As the crowd went berserk and people started running helter-skelter, sadly, many ended up getting crushed and died on the spot.
What’s even worse is the fact that people were recording videos of the crushed bodies lying in a pool of blood and circulating those videos online. Disturbing images and videos of people dying on the bridge soon surfaced on social media and have shaken up the city. The stampede broke out at 10:30 am on the bridge between the busy Parel and Elphinstone Road stations. Witnesses revealed that four trains arriving at the same time and the sudden downpours led to the disturbing incident.
The stampede caused the death of around 25 people leaving many others injured. The disturbing news has not just shaken up the common man but also our film industry. Many celebs have started tweeting about the same expressing their state of sadness at the moment.
