Investigations revealed that Ansari had been working at Poonam Dhillon’s home as part of a painting team from December 28 to January 5. During this period, he exploited an unlocked cupboard to steal the valuables. He discovered the open cupboard containing the diamond earring, cash, and dollars, which prompted him to commit the theft. Following the theft, Ansari reportedly spent ₹9,000 on a party for his colleagues from the painting team.
The theft was uncovered when Anmol returned from Dubai on January 5 and noticed the missing items. After confirming with his mother, he contacted their domestic help. This led to the manager, Sandesh Chaudhary, filing a complaint with the Khar police. The police then summoned the painters for questioning. During the interrogation, Ansari confessed to the crime, resulting in his arrest.
