Rohit Shetty is one of the most talented filmmakers in Bollywood. Over the years, Rohit has given many hits in his career. However, his journey wasn’t a smooth ride. He has had his share of ups and downs. Recently, Rohit Shetty sat down for an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble and opened up about Cirkus failure.
Rohit Shetty talks about Cirkus failure
Cirkus starred Ranveer Singh, Pooja Hegde and Jacqueline Fernandez. The film failed to do well at the box office. So, when asked whether Cirkus failure affected him, Rohit said, “It didn’t hurt me. I’m not that kind of a person who gets hurt. You get disappointed when you work hard on a thing and it doesn’t work. But then you analyse and move forward.”
Rohit added, “You can’t be an escapist. If I’ve made Sooryavanshi, then I’ve also made Cirkus. If Chennai Express I’ve made then Dilwale also I’ve made. Even Dilwale didn’t do that kind of a business nor Chennai Express. But I think that is meant to happen. The best part is you can’t be in a denial. You can’t be like it didn’t do because of this or it didn’t do because of that. Somewhere you had gone wrong. And if you like a man, you say this and analyse it and sit with your team and the team also says that you we all went wrong somewhere, let’s move forward and get into the next one and work hard. I think that’s life because ups and downs are part of life and you learn from your failure. We have never been an escapist and as I said if Chennai Express was my film then Dilwale was also my film.”
Rohit calls Cirkus failure a ‘learning experience’
The filmmaker continued, “If Sooryavanshi, Singham was my film a year before when you opened the theatre and you give the biggest hit with 50% capacities, then with everything going right with audience coming to the theatre you give a film which doesn’t do well that also belongs to me. I will not deny that thing. Yes, we went wrong and there’s nothing wrong in it.” Furthermore, he called Cirkus failure a ‘learning experience’.
Adding to that, Rohit went on to recall what Anupam Kher had told him recently about failure. He shared, “Events fail, people don’t fail.”
