Rohit Shetty donates huge amount to Mumbai Police

With eight consecutive films entering the elite club of 100 crore, director Rohit Shetty has proven time and again that he knows the pulse of cinegoers. His latest release to enter the 100 crore club is ‘Simmba’. Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan starrer continues to rake in more money at the box office and has so far earned over Rs 240 crores.

Rohit Shetty is currently riding high on the success and has also proven that he is the king of box office. The 45-year-old director has not only won the hearts of people with the cop drama but also the love of Mumbai police. Recently, at the Mumbai Police’s annual cultural festival Umang Awards 2019, the ‘Simmba’ director along with Ranveer Singh, Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar handed over a cheque of Rs. 51 lakhs on behalf of his production house Rohit Shetty Picturez to the Commissioner of Police.

Umang Awards 2019 was held at Bandra-Kurla Complex in Mumbai. Celebrities who attended the event included Amitabh Bachchan, Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Janhvi Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, Vicky Kaushal and Madhuri Dixit among others.

On the work front, Rohit Shetty has already introduced another film ‘Sooryavanshi’ to the audience with his recent release ‘Simmba’. Bollywood star Akshay Kumar will be depicting the lead role. The announcement was made in a very special way with Akshay making a cameo at the end of ‘Simmba’ as Veer Sooryavanshi, chief of the Anti-Terrorism Squad. The text on the screen revealed that Sooryavanshi would be “taking charge in 2019”. Akshay and Rohit are set to begin the film’s shooting very soon.

It is to be noted that just a few days ago, the makers of ‘Uri‘ extended a donation worth Rs 1 crore towards the welfare fund of Army widows.
