In a recent interview with News18 Showsha, filmmaker Rohit Shetty addressed the increasing costs of entourages in Bollywood, a trend highlighted by industry stars like Farah Khan and Esha Deol. Shetty, who has worked with major stars including Shah Rukh Khan, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, and Kareena Kapoor, commented on the broader rise in expenses across the industry.
Rohit Shetty defends actors amidst rising entourage cost debate
He stated, “Not really. With me, it is totally different. When we talk about the cost, it is not just the actors. Everything from traveling to ticketing and hotels, the prices for everything have gone up. It is not just actors. The whole cost has gone up for a lot of things. Keeping that in mind, just because the cast is an ensemble, a lot of money is spent on the cast, it is not like that.” Shetty highlighted that the increase in costs is not limited to actors’ entourages but is a widespread phenomenon affecting various aspects of production, from logistics to accommodation.
Shetty also discussed the prevalent use of CGI in films, noting a significant shift in the industry. He observed, “I think now everyone is using VFX. It is not just us but all over the world. Most importantly, it is a bit easier and safer. When you are doing hand-to-hand combat, we are trying to be as real as possible. We are old-school guys. For me, hand-to-hand combat will always be real. Even when you see my next venture (Singham Again), hand-to-hand combat is real and yes, there is a lot of CG as well.” His comments suggest a balance between traditional filmmaking techniques and modern visual effects, emphasizing the importance of realism in action sequences while acknowledging the safety and efficiency of CGI.
Rohit Shetty recently made his OTT debut with the series ‘Indian Police Force’, released in January. Fans are now eagerly anticipating his upcoming film, ‘Singham Again’, set to feature Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, and Deepika Padukone. The film is scheduled for release on November 1, 2024.
