Filmmaker Rohit Shetty has recently come up with his new action movie Sooryavanshi. The movie stars Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh. After a gap, the movie finally released in theatres and is doing great at the box office. We had an exclusive chat with Rohit regarding the movie, facing criticism, his upcoming projects and a lot more.
When asked about facing criticism, Shetty said, “Sooryavanshi is my 15th film now. This criticism by a segment of media has always been there and will always be there and there is nothing wrong in it. I have come in terms with my age and with so much of experiences. Ultimately, even they are audience and there is a segment of audience who don’t like this kind of films which is absolutely fine. They have their right and there is an audience who likes this kind of films and I have been lucky because that segment is larger.”
He added that critics sometimes go overboard and “I think it’s fine”, he said. He further said, “Most of the talented critics are working in the industry like either Dharma or T Series or other production houses”.
Rohit also said that due to the social media, the critics don’t have that much of shelf life. “It is not that big because nobody is waiting for the next day newspapers or how many stars he/she has given to the film. It’s all about subscription now. You criticise my film but at the end of the day, you will be checking how many people have watched and how many subscriptions are there,” said Shetty.
He also said that he doesn’t believe in critics adding, “You should criticise a film. Even my mother also does it. When she doesn’t like a film, she comes and tell me. But critics go into the humiliation mode and I don’t know why they do that. But that’s fine.”
