Rohit Shetty wishes to make ‘Shivaji Maharaj’ biopic with Ajay Devgn

Post the success of the epic action film ‘Baahubali’, Bollywood filmmakers are now quite keen to make a period drama. Along with biopics, they seem to be the current flavour of the season. Filmmaker Rohit Shetty recently expressed his wish to make a biopic too.

The ‘Singham’ director wishes to make a biopic on none other than one of the greatest Maratha warriors, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Talking about his wish to direct a biopic on Shivaji Maharaj, Rohit Shetty was quoted as saying in Deccan Chronicle, “I wish to make a huge film on Shivaji Maharaj. However, a huge budget is needed to make this film and I am unable to gather the desired amount. Though I definitely want to make it, I have no idea when it will happen.”

Interestingly, Rohit even revealed whom he would like to cast in the role of Shivaji Maharaj. Yes, you guessed it right, it’s none other than actor Ajay Devgn who has not just starred in several of his movies but is also a dear friend of the filmmaker. Well, given Rohit Shetty’s love for action films, we think he really can make a great film on the Maratha warrior.

However, we wonder that after playing the title role in ‘Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior’, will Ajay agree to play Shivaji Maharaj. In ‘Taanaji’, Ajay will be seen in the role of the unsung warrior Subedar Taanaji Malusare, who fought alongside Chatrapathi Shivaji Maharaj.
