Kishore Kumar’s first wife Ruma Guha Thakurta passes away

Life is full of ups and downs and it is indeed a roller coaster ride. Now, legendary and iconic singer Kishore Kumar’s (he is no more) first wife Ruma Guha Thakurta has passed away at the age of 84. The veteran actress passed away on Monday morning at her Ballygunge Place residence. Only a few days ago the popular actress returned to Kolkata. She had gone to see her son Amit Kumar and spent almost 3 months there. For those who are unaware, Kishore Kumar was married four times.

Ruma Guha Thakurta was suffering from age-related illness over the past few years. Ruma was born in Kolkata in 1934, the veteran actress-singer tied the knot with legendary Kishore Kumar in 1951. However, Ruma divorced Kishore Kumar six years later and married Arup Guha Thakurta with whom she has daughter Sromona Guha Thakurta, also a singer.

Ruma was a popular actress and was a famous name in Bengali films. The first wife of Kishore Kumar has acted in films like ‘Antony Firingi’, ‘Ganga Obhijaan’, ‘Palatak’, ‘Aashite Aasio Na’, ‘Balika Bodhu’ is still remembered by Bengali audience. She acted in Satyajit Ray’s ‘Abhijaan’ and ‘Ganoshotru’ as well.

May God give enough strength to Amit Kumar and his family to cope with the loss of Ruma Guha Thakurta.
