Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Saif Ali Khan starrer web series ‘Sacred Games‘ garnered great responses from the critics and audience alike. However, with sexual harassment charges against Varun Grover who is the co-writer of the show, emerging in the ongoing #MeToo movement, it looks like the second season of the show will now be in jeopardy.
Reportedly Netflix is planning to drop the show or remove Varun’s name from the writer’s credit. A source close to the development was quoted saying in In.Com as “The #MeToo movement is going the Hollywood way. After the news that Reliance is apparently considering dropping Vikas Bahl’s (one of the partners of Phantom,) name from the credits in ‘Super 30’, which he is directing, now comes another piece of news. In the light of the recent allegations against one of the writers of Sacred Games, Varun Grover, Netflix is considering some options on how to tackle the situation. They may drop the successful web series completely (which turned around Saif’s career once more) or drop the name of writer.”

Reacting to the charges an anonymous woman has accused Varun of, the writer has categorically denied them. In fact, he has said that he is willing to co-operate in any legal or independent inquiry to get his name cleared of all these false accusations. The writer also urged the netizens to not use #MeToo Movement to level false charges.
Here’s my detailed statement about the completely fabricated, misleading, and defamatory allegations against me. Am absolutely willing to cooperate and clear my name. Let’s not allow such agenda-driven tactics to derail this movement please. pic.twitter.com/VTFeIjygcl
