‘Sadmaa’ remake on hold post Kareena Kapoor’s exit?

Kareena Kapoor Khan’s performance in her latest release ‘Ki & Ka’ has brought her accolades from all corners. The film is running hit in the theatres and Kareena is on cloud nine. As Bebo hadn’t been seen much on the silver screen post her stint in Salman Khan’s ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, ‘Ki & Ka’ is considered to be crucial for her career. In fact, Bebo’s career seemed to be getting back on track as she is being approached by a lot of filmmakers. One such film, which was in the grabbing the limelight was ‘Sadmaa’ remake with Kareena Kapoor and Ranveer Singh in the main lead. But it seems the future of this remake in danger as Bebo has opted out of the project.

According to recent reports, Kareena was quoted saying that the filmmakers had approached her to essay the role of Sridevi in the remake of ‘Sadmaa’, but she isn’t doing it. With this the makers are in a fix. A source was quoted saying,  “The makers planned the sequel keeping Kareena in mind. It’s her character that drives the film so the female protagonist is very important in the film. Sridevi had nailed her part in the original and the team felt Bebo’s the only actress of the current generation who can bring in the depth and drama to the table. So after she informed them that she wasn’t doing the film, the makers decided to put the film on hold for the time being.”
