Sahil Khan to remain in police custody till May 1 in Mahadev Betting App Case; actor says, ‘sach aayega’

Actor Sahil Khan – who has featured in films such as Style, Xcuse Me, Aladin and more, was brought to Mumbai from Chhattisgarh after being arrested for his alleged involvement in the Mahadev betting app. The actor, who allegedly was on the run, was detained by the Mumbai Crime Branch’s Special Investigation Team following a 40-hour-long operation. 

On to the latest development – after being arrested, the actor was produced before the Shindewadi-Dadar court. Sahil Khan has since been ordered to remain in police custody till May 1, 2024. 

Sahil Khan reacts to police custody news

After his appearance, Khan was snapped by the paps. While surrounded by officials after the court hearing, the actor reacted to the decision while interacting with the media. In a video shared by news agency ANI, he said, “Mujhe Mumbai Police par, desh ke kanoon par pura vishwas hai, sach aayega aap dekh lijiyega (I have full faith in the Mumbai Police, country’s law, and the truth will come out).”

For the unversed, Sahil Khan has been accused of his association with the Mahadev betting app. A case has been registered at the Matunga police station against 37 people including the ‘Style’ actor. The amount of the scam is believed to be around Rs 15,000 crore. Reportedly, the police will examine the phones, laptops, bank accounts and other technical devices of all the accused.

What is Mahadev betting app?

It is an app where people can do illegal betting on online games like poker, football, cricket and more. Owned by Dubai-based Sourabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal, the app came under the scanner when a lavish wedding in Dubai was held in Dubai. Costing Rs 200 crore, the entire wedding was paid for in cash for it. In October 2023, several actors including Ranbir Kapoor, Huma Qureshi, Hina Khan, and Shraddha Kapoor were named in the case. They were booked under section 12(a) of the Maharashtra Prevention of Gambling Act and sections 66(d), and 66(f) of the Information Technology Act, 2000.
