Mumbai Police recorded Saif Ali Khan’s first statement at his residence on Thursday. At the conclusion of his five-day remand, the police will bring 30-year-old Shariful Islam, who is charged with breaking into the actor’s home and stabbing him, before the metropolitan magistrate court in Bandra on Friday.

Shariful Islam reveals he has ‘no intention to harm but the purpose was to steal’

The police officials have already found a Bangladeshi voter card and certificate on the accused’s mobile phone. He stated that he lost his job on December 15 and was facing financial problems and has no intention to harm the actor but his purpose was to steal.

He also revealed that after the robbery would have been successful, he would have moved to Bangladesh. Post the attack, he boarded a Churchgate train at Bandra station, got down at Dadar, and decided to change his appearance after seeing the news at Worli. He visited a salon shop in Koliwada, Worli, and got a haircut. Mumbai police have also recorded the salon owner’s statement late Wednesday night. They also questioned autorickshaw driver Bhajan Singh Rana, who dropped the actor at Lilavati Hospital after the attack.

About Saif Ali Khan’s attack case

The incident happened at Saif Ali Khan’s Bandra home when an intruder confronted his maid. The actor suffered many stab wounds as a result of the violent struggle that broke out when Saif tried to step in and defuse the situation.

Saif Ali Khan was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent surgery under the supervision of a team of doctors. His team confirmed on Thursday afternoon that he was out of danger and had been moved to the ICU. As per the latest updates, Saif’s friend Afsar Zaidi brought him to Lilavati Hospital on the day of the incident. Lilavati Hospital completed the admission process at 4:11 AM on January 16. According to his medical report, Saif Ali Khan sustained injuries in five areas, including his back, wrist, neck, shoulder, and elbow. The injuries ranged in size from 0.5 cm to 15 cm.

Mumbai police after investigating the case arrested a suspect connected to the attack. He was identified as Mohammed Shariful Islam Shehzad, a 30-year-old Bangladeshi national who illegally entered India and changed his name to Vijay Das.
