In the latest developments regarding the stabbing incident involving Saif Ali Khan, police officials have confirmed that the fingerprints found at the actor’s residence match those of the arrested suspect, Shariful Islam, a Bangladeshi national. Although forensic analysis has established this connection, the final report on the fingerprint examination is still pending.
Fingerprints confirm two arrested in Saif Ali Khan’s case
Two employees of Saif Ali Khan’s household have identified Shariful Islam as the attacker who intruded into the actor’s home on January 16. Staff members Elayama Philip and Aya Juru recognized the 30-year-old suspect. The individual responsible for assaulting both the actor and his team during the incident.
As part of the ongoing investigation, an identification lineup was conducted, where Shariful was presented among others for recognition. The first responders successfully identified him. It remains uncertain if authorities will include Saif Ali Khan in the identification process. While facial recognition technology has confirmed a match, results from fingerprint and blood analysis are still awaited.
Attack details
Last month, city police reported that a facial recognition test confirmed a match between Shariful Islam. The individual was captured on CCTV footage from the Satguru Sharan building in Bandra, where Saif resides. Allegations state that Shariful forced his way into the actor’s 12th-floor apartment in the early hours of January 16. He stabbed him six times before fleeing the scene.
Following the attack, the 54-year-old actor was admitted to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent two surgeries. He was discharged on January 21, receiving strong support from his family, including his wife, actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, and children Sara and Ibrahim Ali Khan.
