Legendary actor Dilip Kumar who is known as the Tragedy King passed away on July 7, 2021, leaving everyone in the void. The one person who was absolutely devasted by the demise was his wife and actor Saira Banu. Ever since the actor passed away, Saira revealed how distressed she feels after Dilip Sahab departed for his heavenly abode. During an interview, Saira Banu spoke about coping with the loss and why she has kept herself in a “shell”.
Saira Banu told ETimes, “I am extremely distressed; I cannot get out of the loss. How do I get out of it? I just can’t. I was doing everything very happily too. Everything was so fine, just the two of us together. I loved sitting at home with Sahab. Anyway, I am not an outgoing person or a party person. Today, I don’t want to step out.” When asked if she will keep herself inside the house, the Padosan actor said, “I don’t know, maybe until I don’t feel distressed. No point in stepping out when…”
Saira Banu concluded by saying, “I wouldn’t feel lost. It is just that I need Sahab so desperately in my life. Frankly, yes, I am not mingling with people. Maybe only with my immediate friends. I am lucky that a lot of people are so concerned about me. But for now, I am doing a lot of meditation and prayer.”

For the uninitiated, the Mughal-E-Azam star and Saira were married for 54 years. Saira Banu was just 12 when she fell in love with Dilip, who was already a big star at that time. Despite an age gap of 22 years, they did not let numbers play a barrier in their love. The two got married in the year 1966.
