Over the last couple of days, yesteryear actress Zeenat Aman has been making the news owing to her statement on live-in relationships. The ‘Satyam Shivam Sundaram’ actress during a recent interview has said, “People should try live-in relationships together before getting married”. This statement didn’t sit well with many, including actress Mumtaz.
The ‘Brahmachari’ actress slammed Zeenat for giving such advice as “her own marriage was a living hell.” Now, their colleague, veteran actress Saira Banu has weighed in on the issue and revealed what she thinks of live-in relationships too.
Saira Banu on Zeenat Aman-Mumtaz feud
During a recent interaction with Hindustan Times, Saira weighed on the ongoing war of words between her colleagues. Reacting to the feud, the ‘Purab Aur Paschim’ actress said, “I am not reading much and I don’t really follow what they (Mumtaz and Zeenat Aman) are saying, but we are very old-fashioned people. Our trend is 40-50 saal pehle ka (years ago).”
Commenting on whether she agrees with the idea of live-in relationships before marriage, Saira Banu said, “Iss baat se main toh sehmat nahi ho sakti hu kabhi bhi (I can never agree with this statement). I would never advocate live-in relationships like that. It’s something unimaginable and unacceptable for me.”
Zeenat reacts to Mumtaz’s statement
The same publication also connected with Zeenat Aman to know her thoughts on Mumtaz’s statement. Responding to this, the ‘Don’ actress said, “Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I’ve never been one to comment on others’ personal lives or tear down my colleagues, and I’m not going to start now.”
Zeenat vs Mumtaz
The Zeenat Aman vs Mumtaz feud began after Zeenat advised today’s generation to opt for live-in relationships before marriage. She said, “If you’re in a relationship, I strongly recommend that you LIVE TOGETHER before getting married!”
In response to this, Mumtaz said, “Zeenat should be careful with what she is advising. She has all of a sudden come into this huge social media popularity, and I can understand her excitement about sounding like a cool aunty. But giving advice that is counter to our moral values is not the solution to increasing your following. Aap Zeenat ko hi le lo misaal ke taur par (Take Zeenat for example)… She knew Mazhar Khan for years before marrying him. Her marriage was a living hell. She should be the last person doling out advice on relationships.”
