Nitesh Tiwari’s magnum opus Ramayana – starring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, has been the talk of the town ever since its announcement. While fans await an official announcement about the film’s cast, a new name is now being associated with the film. Reportedly, actress Sakshi Tanwar – who is known for starring in shows like Kahaani Ghar Dhar Kii and Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, has joined the cast.
Sakshi Tanwar to play Mandodari in Ramayana
According to a recent Filmibeat report, the makers of the upcoming Ranbir Kapoor- Sai Pallavi Hindu epic, have roped in Sakshi Tanwar to play Ravan’s wife Mandodari. She was known to be a pious and righteous woman.
A source told the portal, “Nitesh Tiwari already has a perfect cast in place for Ramayana, and Sakshi Tanwar is finalized as Ravan’s wife Mandodari. She has been attending script reading sessions with the team and is looking forward to sharing the screen space with KGF star Yash.”
They added, “Not just her, even Lara Dutta and Rakul Preet Singh were a part of reading sessions.” For the unversed, Rakul and Lara have reportedly been approached to plat Shurpanakha and Kaikeyi, respectively.
Indira Krishna to play Kausalya
Another Ramayana casting report doing the round is that of Indira Krishna joining the cast as Ranbir Kapoor’s mother, Kausalya. Amidst these reports, Indira shared a photo with Ranbir – who played her son-in-law in Animal, on social media. She captioned it, “Ahaaaa look whose here…..RK my all time 😍 Grateful thankful joyful 2024…… Finally a selfie with him …”

Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana will see Ranbir Kapoor essaying the role of Lord Ram and actress Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita. KGF star Yash will reportedly play Ravan in the upcoming adaptation of the Hindu epic. Reports also suggest Sunny Deol will play Hanuman, Lara Dutta will play Princess Kaikey and Ravi Dubey will play Lakshman. Other names associated with this project include Bobby Deol as Kumbhakarna, Vijay Sethupathi as Vibhashana and Amitabh Bachchan as King Dashrath. However, aside from Ranbir and Sai being onboard, there have been no other official confirmations.
Recent reports suggest the Nitesh Tiwari film will go on floors in mid-April. Another report claims the film’s official announcement will happen on April 17, this year’s Ram Navami festival day.
