Superstar Salman Khan has apparently applied for a gun licence for self-protection. The move comes after the actor and his father had recently received threat letters. The Dabangg Khan visited the Mumbai police headquarters and met Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar at his south Mumbai office.

As reported by news agency ANI, the actor has submitted a written application to the Mumbai Police to seek a weapon licence for his protection amid alleged death threats. His Friday visit was for physical verification before the authority.

The actor and his father Salim Khan received a death threat in early June, days after singer Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead near Punjab’s Mansa on May 29. The death threat was from gangster Lawrence Bishnoi who had threatened the actor in 2018 too. Lawrence Bishnoi’s death threat to Salman Khan was linked to the black buck poaching case of 1998.

Salman Khan’s father had found the unsigned letter on a bench where he sits daily after jogging in the morning. The letter said that the actor and his father would soon meet the same fate as Sidhu Moosewala. After the letter the superstars security was increased.

Lawrence Bishnoi, is currently in Punjab Police custody in connection with the murder of Sidhu Moose Wala. He had recently warned that his community and he will never forgive Salman for killing a blackbuck. Lawrence also added that he would change his mind only if Salman Khan and his father apologise to his community in public at the Jambaji temple.
