Bollywood superstar Salman Khan grabbed attention when gunshots were fired at his Bandra residence last month. Five suspects had already been apprehended about the incident. While several celebrities have expressed concerned, his ex-girlfriend Somy Ali apologised to the Bishnoi community urging them to not harm the actor. A few days after her statement, the Bishnoi community demanded an apology from Salman Khan.
Bishnoi community demands apology from Salman Khan
The President of the All India Bishnoi Society, Devendra Budiya, shared an official statement while replying to Somy. He expressed that they are ready to consider forgiveness in case Salman Khan himself apologizes. As per IANS, he said, “If Salman himself apologizes, the Bishnoi society will consider the apology. The mistake was not made by Somy Ali, but it was committed by Salman.”
His statement further read, “Therefore, he should propose to the Bishnoi society that he wants to apologize. He should come to the temple and seek forgiveness. He should further take an oath that he will never make such a mistake in the future and will always work to protect wildlife and conserve the environment. If he does this, a decision of the society to forgive him will be considered.”
When Somy Ali reacted to Salman Khan firing incident
During the shooting of Sooraj Barjatya’s film Hum Saath Saath Hain in 1998, Salman allegedly hunted a blackbuck in a village of Jodhpur. A complaint against the actor was filed by the members of the Bishnoi community. Bishnois believe that blackbucks are the reincarnation of their spiritual leader. Reacting to the firing incident, Somy Ali stated, “I want to request the head of the Bishnoi tribe to forget about it and move on. I apologise on his behalf (Salman) if he has made a mistake and please forgive him. I want to appeal to the Bishnoi community that harming Salman Khan will not bring back the blackbuck. Whatever happened to me cannot be changed; let bygones be bygones. Nobody deserves what he is experiencing right now.”
On the work front, Salman Khan is currently shooting for Sajid Nadiadwala’s Sikandar which also stars Rashmika Mandanna. Apart from this, he will reunite with Karan Johar for The Bull. The film will go on floors next year.
