Two months after the conviction and bail of superstar Salman Khan, the High Court is hearing an appeal filed by the Salman who was sentenced to five years in jail for culpable homicide not amounting to murder by the sessions court in May. Salman Khan’s lawyer Amit Desai began arguments in his appeal hearing before the Bombay High Court today.

In the court of Justice AR Joshi, senior lawyer Amit Desai argued that, the entire case was based on circumstantial evidence. Singer Kamal Khan, a crucial eye-witness, was not examined before the trial court. The prosecution also produced the doctor who conducted autopsy of the of Nurullah, who died in the accident. but did not try to trace Kamal Khan. Also none of the eye-witnesses had said that they saw Salman driving; they only stated from which side of the car they saw him getting out after the accident.

Desai further added that, the prosecution is only trying to bring on record the evidence of Salman’s police bodyguard Ravindra Patil, who had filed the FIR in the case and had later died.

The arguments by Salman Khan ‘s lawyer will continue on Thursday.
