Though the ornate sets could have been recreated in a studio, director Sooraj Barjatya and Salman both agreed on shooting in real locations.
A haveli in Gondal, near Rajkot (Gujarat), was chosen to film a sizeable portion of the family drama.
While the production team was put up in a hotel, Salman preferred staying in the heritage property . The star recreated his room to his taste by painting the walls.
The striking artworks brightened the interiors and were admired by everyone when the actor hosted get-togethers after the shoot.
Once the schedule was wrapped up, the owners decided to retain Salman’s frescos in his room.
The haveli has now been converted into a boutique hotel and its new-found star status is making it an attraction.
