Salman Khan wanted to do Uunchai but Sooraj Barjatya rejected him, Here’s why

Actor Salman Khan and director Sooraj Barjatya are one duo who have given us several hits together right from Main Pyaar Kiya to Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. It was Sooraj who gave us our darling Prem in Salman Khan. Hence, fans are often excited to see them whenever this duo comes together. But did you know Salman Khan wanted to work with Sooraj Barjatya again for Uunchai? That’s right.

That’s not it, Salman was rejected by the director as he thought he was not right for the story. No, not in a derogatory manner but the Hum Aapke Hai Koun director felt that he wanted someone who will have a tough time climbing the mountain, as per the demand of the script, whereas it won’t be a task for the Dabangg actor.

During the Uunchai trailer launch, Sooraj recalls his conversation with Khan and said, “When I was making this, Salman asked me, ‘Sooraj what are you making?’ then, ‘Why are you going to the hills?’ Then he also told me, ‘I can do this film!’ I said no! Because we all know he can climb mountains. But I needed people who can look as if they can’t.”

Meanwhile, Salman Khan and Sooraj Barjatya have worked together on blockbusters like Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hai Koun, Hum Saath-Saath Hai and Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo.

After PRDP in 2015, Sooraj Barjatya is coming back with Uunchai starring Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Parineeti Chopra, Neena Gupta and Sarika. The movie’s trailer was released today and it gives us glimpses of friendship and the true meaning of the emotion. Uunchai is set to release on November 11.
