A Mumbai sessions court has pronounced actor Salman Khan guilty in the 2202 hit-and-run case. The Bollywood superstar rammed his Land Cruiser into a Mumbai bakery in the early hours of September 28, 2002, killing 1 and injuring 4 who were asleep on the footpath.
Judge C W Deshpande has held Salman guilty on all counts. Judge Deshpande has said that all the eight charges against Salman have been proved, which includes culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
Salman Khan’s lawyer pleads with judge for a maximum sentence of two years and a fine, keeping in mind Salman’s humanitarian work. Salman Khan lawyer’s talks about the actor’s Being Human initiative and the fact that he sponsored heart surgeries of 600 children.
The lawyer even cited health issues for leniency. Salman put a stop to the Lawyers plead on health reasons. Salman tells the judge, “I have suffered a trial as an ordinary citizen and therefore should be treated as that and not an actor.”
Salman Khan has already been taken to custody.
