‘83′: Former cricketer Sandeep Patil’s son to play his role in this Ranveer Singh starrer

Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has been in the limelight for a while now, due to his marriage with Deepika Padukone and impressive performances in two films last year i.e ‘Padmaavat’ and ‘Simmba’. However, along with Ranveer, his upcoming film ‘83’ has been in the news for quite some time now.  Notably, Kabir Khan’s directorial ’83’ is a biopic on Kapil Dev, the man who captained the Indian Cricket Team which clinched the first World Cup for India in the year 1983. Ranveer Singh will don the role of Kapil Dev.

Recently, the makers of ‘83’ took to social media and shared a video confirming the release date of the film as April 10, 2020. The video also stated that the entire cast will be announced soon. A few days back, the makers revealed that Punjabi actor and singer Ammy Virk, Tamil actor Jiiva, Sunny Kaushal, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Hardy Sandhu and Pankaj Tripathi have been roped in for the biopic.

And now it is being reported that former cricketer Sandeep Patil’s son Chirag is roped in for the multi-starrer film. It is to be noted that Sandeep Patil was a part of India’s World Cup-winning team in 1983 as a middle-order batsman.

According to a report published in Mumbai Mirror, Chirag will play his father onscreen in Kabir Khan’s sports drama ‘83’ and recreate cricketing history. Also, Mumbai Mirror quoted Chirag as saying, “I’m really excited, the ’83 World Cup win is considered a milestone in Indian history and to be a part of that team is a dream come true and playing my father, who’s my hero, is just awesome. I don’t think any actor has ever played his own father before. I’m the first.”
