Violence of any kind is unacceptable, be it against women or men. Lionsgate Play’s latest ad has been severely criticised for ‘promoting violence against men’. The ad features ‘Dil Bechara’ actress Sanjana Sanghi. And actress Pooja Bedi raised her objection to the ad by calling it out on social media platform.
The ad in question is that of Lionsgate Play and it shows Sanjana slapping a man eight times. The ad features the young actress and another actor as a couple. In the ad, unable to decide which show to watch next, Sanjana slaps her boyfriend eight times before he asks her to stop. It was then that Sanjana decides that they should watch the eighth show on the list.
The makers of the ad shared it alongside the caption, “Are you going this crazy while picking what to watch? We have a solution for your confusion! Now, #PlayMoreBrowseLess with the new Lionsgate Play app. Download and get a free trial for 14 days.”
Now reacting to the ad, Pooja Bedi took to her Twitter handle and wrote, “Absolutely HORRIFIED 2 watch this advt. Domestic violence against men is NOT acceptable. What if a man was slapping a woman in this advt? This should NEVER CLEAR an advertising board! #men have rights! #domesticviolence @sharmarekha@smritiirani@DeepikaBhardwaj @amitdeshmra(sic).”
Pooja also tagged Smriti Irani and National Commission of Women chairperson Rekha Sharma in her tweet.

Following the outrage, the Advertising Standards Council of India is now processing a complaint against the ad. And apparently, Sanjana has also deleted the ad from her Instagram page. However, the ‘Dil Bechara’ actress is yet to issue any statement on it.
