Actor Sanjay Dutt, who is now cancer free was diagnosed with it in August 2020. He was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer. The actor had made an official announcement about his diagnosis on his social media accounts. It was only recently when Sanjay Dutt opened up about his cancer diagnosis and how he reacted after it.
Sanjay Dutt reflects on the time after his cancer diagnosis!
The KGF: Chapter 2 actor said that he initially didn’t want chemotherapy. He further shared why. Dutt also mentioned his reaction after the knowledge about his diagnosis. The actor shared he didn’t want chemotherapy as he had even lost his mother, Nargis Dutt and wife, Richa Sharma to cancer, earlier. He spoke about the fears he faced after his cancer diagnosis.
According to a report in ETimes, at an event, Dutt recalled the timeline of how he fell sick with frequent back pain, until his diagnosis. He mentioned ignoring the back pain with a treatment of hot water bottle and pain-killers. The actor shared it was until one day he couldn’t breathe that he was taken to a hospital.
He further revealed, “I was taken to the hospital but the thing was that the cancer news was not broken to me properly. My wife, my family or my sisters, nobody was around me that time. I was all alone and suddenly this guy comes and tells me ‘you have cancer’.” Sanjay explained how he was informed about his cancer diagnosis when his wife, Manayataa Dutt was in Dubai. He shared it was his sister, Priya Dutt who came to him.
The KGF: Chapter 2 actor shared why he preferred to die over getting a treatment for his cancer. On the same, he revealed why. Dutt said, “My first reaction was that, once you hear something like this, your whole life reflects back at you. I have a history of cancer in my family. My mom died of pancreatic cancer, my wife (Richa Sharma) died of brain cancer. So, the first thing I said was that, I don’t want to take chemotherapy. If I’m supposed to die, I will just die but I don’t want any treatment.“
Meanwhile, months after undergoing treatment for cancer, Sanjay announced he was cancer free. Currently, the actor has resumed working out and is maintaining his fitness.
On the work front, Dutt was last seen in the film Samshera. The film also featured Ranbir Kapoor and Vaani Kapoor.
